    This is a favorite of mine, a short Robert Frost poem, that my mother-in-law often shared with me, along with her interpretation, which was a husband inviting his wife to keep him company while he did spring chores! She thought is was a tender moment between husband and wife.

    The Pasture
    I’m going out to clean the pasture spring;
    I’ll only stop to rake the leaves away
    (And wait to watch the water clear,I may):
    I shan’t be gone long.—You come too.

    I’m going out to fetch the little calf
    That’s standing by the mother. It’s so young
    It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
    I shan’t be gone long.—You come too.
    Robert Frost

    • What a lovely poem by one of my favorites. I can very much see how it can be interpreted as a tender, loving moment that comes with the spring. Appreciate you sharing.

        Yes, no “wine and roses” for the good old New England Yankees, such pragmatism, yet the silver lining is there!
